Thank you for the invitation and opportunity to be interviewed for your blog. This story is too important to keep secret any longer!! One of the best part’s of Aura’s sharing it with women around the world and seeing how this then empowers them to step into their greatness, express their inner beauty and embrace their true colours.
I saw on your blog and website that you are a dancer! Can you introduce yourself to the Madmagz’ community?
My name is Tracey Fenner. Dancing has been part of my life since the age of 3 years. I cannot remember a day as a child when I wasn’t hopping and skipping some where. I left home at 16 years to attend the Northern Ballet School in Manchester, England. After extensive classical ballet training, I graduated and danced professionally for a number of years before becoming a full time teacher. I have over 2 decades of teaching experience traveling extensively worldwide.
In 2007 after nearly a decade of teaching in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, I discovered Nia, a path that would change my life forever. I trained with the Co-Creators of Nia, Debbie Rosas & Carlos Rosas and International Master Trainers Helen Terry & Ann Christiansen. I experienced the transformational power of Nia from these great Masters and with self-development my journey lead me to fully commit to this wonderful practice and to sharing the gift of this body of work with others.
Now based in Hong Kong, I have been instrumental in introducing the Nia Technique to the city. I am currently the only Certified Nia Black Belt in Hong Kong (http://www.niahongkong.com). I facilitate transformational Nia class experiences, workshops, & retreats around the planet at renowned yoga conferences, academies for performing arts & dance, award winning health & healing resorts & destination spas.
You have just published your first catalogue with Madmagz. Can you tell us a little more about Aura? How and when did you get passionate about clothing?
I have always loved fashion. My personal relationship with Nia and living in Asia inspired me to create Aura, a sensual clothing line for women. Aura has been created out of love for the feminine spirit. The idea behind the line is to give women the opportunity to look and feel ‘fabulously feminine’ as they move their bodies and connect to their spirit’s on and off the dance-floor. I love fashion and I love to dance so for me this is the perfect combination. A dream came true for me to follow my passions and create something unique.
Born out of the desire for women to express on the outside the beauty that shines from within. Letting a women’s uniqueness reflect from her soul and touch the world. Appreciating her grace & elegance, inner wisdom and sensual beauty.
I see fashion as a way to share authentic truth. Fashion in the right hands has soul. It’s a way to express ourselves and tell our story. When you feel good in your clothes, the world picks up on your energy and what you feel is reflected back at you. Fashion is a form of self love.
In 2011, through teaching Nia in Hong Kong, I met Tiffany Bisley. Our friendship grew and we decided to collaborate together to create Aura. Tiffany is a gifted designer and has been designing for her own fashion label zero nOir (www.zeronoir.com) since 2004.
Both Tiffany and I love to travel. Our adventures took us to explore the ‘island of the gods’ Bali, where Aura is being sown using semi natural, breathable fabric by local Balinese artisans.
Aura is at the cutting edge of style and versatility. Clothing that is intertwined with the exotic East, but with a Western contemporary influence. Like Asia, Aura is vibrant, exotic, and has an infectious energy. It’s like nothing else on the planet. The foundation of Aura rests on three pillars of strength, Trust, Love and Nurture.
What’s Aura‘s special touch?
Aura acts as a mirror. A mirror to the spirit; to the very depth of a woman’s soul. Everyone of us is unique and reflects beauty from within. A women’s uniqueness should reflect from her soul and touch the world. Allowing the world to appreciate her grace & elegance, her inner wisdom and sensual beauty. I recognize and feel, passionately, that women want to express their beauty, to be empowered and inspired as they dance and journey through life. I visualize each woman who wears our collection to live life to their fullest, stepping into their limitless potential, trusting their intuition and embracing their true colours.
What kind of dancers wears Aura’s clothes?
Aura was designed with Nia in mind but one of our intentions is to inspire and empower women globally as they dance through life on and off the dance floor. Aura’s fabric is light, breathe-able and perfect for traveling, for resort wear, for any type of movement and for relaxing in.
Nia is a sensory based body-mind-emotions-spirit movement and lifestyle practice. Nia’s intention is to address fitness & wellness and the unique, ever changing needs of you and your lifestyle. The stillness of Yoga, the power of Martial Arts and the grace and spontaneity of Modern & Ethnic Dance.
With wonderful movement practices like Nia, Soul Motion, Yoga, Dancing Freedom, 5 Rhythms, Ecstatic Dance etc etc all becoming more and more popular we feel women want to have chooses to be more feminine with their style choices rather than sporty.
